Ideation: Thumbnail Sketches (for cover illustration)
It begins with a few ideas drawn out in very quick thumbnail sketches.
Rough Larger Sketches
Selected ideas from the small thumbnail sketches are slightly refined with more detail to suggest a complete idea.
Final Sketch
An Idea is chosen and refined to a finished sketched level.
Inking Process
The sketch is enlarged and traced over onto bristol board with an initial ink outline.
Inking Process
Ink is applied with various techniques including old school masking techniques to create solids, line-work, value and texture.
Inking Process
The final inked page is scanned and touched up on the computer. Additional digital inking is done if needed.
Coloring Process
Color and effects are added digitally as well.
